Estasol® is a mixture of refined dimethyl esters of adipic, glutaric and succinic acids characterized by its low vapour pressure.Following increasingly-strict regulation on the use of solvents in the industrial, coatings and agrochemical markets, Estasol® provides a safe to handle, low toxicity, and biodegradable alternative. Estasol® is a strong polar solvent that can be used as an alternative to chlorinated solvents, aromatics and ketones in cleaning and a wide range of functional fluids. It exhibits high solvency for a broad range of resins and is compatible with most commonly used solvents. This versatility enables re-formulation to be carried out readily, resulting in immediate cost savings and lowering of toxicity. It is similar in solvency to isophorone, diacetone alcohol and 2-ethoxyethyl acetate (ethyl glycol acetate). Estasol® is often blended with other solvents to optimize properties in formulations. There are numerous applications for Estasol.It is used in a number of hard surface cleaners in liquid and gel formulations. Other formulations include hand cleaners in surfactant blends. It is increasingly used in new formulations where excellent solvency, high BP and controlled evaporation are important factors. They are increasingly established in coil coatings. It can be used to replace isophorone, glycol ethers, glycol ether acetates, high boiling ketones and aromatics giving a low toxicity option. Because Estasol® provides outstanding reflow, promotes smooth surfaces and consequently gives high gloss, it is used extensively in wood coatings and certain floor coatings. It serves as a general purpose solvent because of its broad solvent power, economy and ease of handling. It is used in commercial graffiti removal, paint strippers, wood coatings, and textile lubricants and in polyurethane clean-up. It is also used in Oil rig and drilling equipment cleaning. Soil stabilization systems in construction can be based on silicate and Estasol® and provide stability to construction working.
