Developing and producing critical molecules in France

SEQENS has decided to invest €65M to increase its development and production capacities for pharmaceutical active ingredients and pharmaceutical intermediates and to accelerate the deployment of breakthrough technologies on its sites.

These projects should make it possible not only to meet the growing demand for the development and production of critical molecules such as antivirals or anti-cancer drugs, but also to complete SEQENS’ industrial capabilities, particularly to produce highly active ingredients and to produce continuous flow intermediates (initially).

To carry out these projects, SEQENS will rely on Seqens’Lab (one of Seqens’ R&D centers) and four of its active ingredients and GMP or non-GMP intermediates production sites.

Based on breakthrough technologies that guarantee a high level of performance, in terms of safety and environment, the new multi-purpose units will enable competitive and sustainable production of active ingredients and intermediates.

The French government is supporting SEQENS in these capacity development projects to accelerate and facilitate their implementation.

The support not only allows to pre-finance part of the investment but also to speed up all the administrative and regulatory procedures.

SEQENS is considered a major player in the development and industrialization of small synthetic molecules.

On these projects, SEQENS wishes to complete its industrial facilities with the following technologies:

• Flow Chemistry allowing to have high-performance and competitive multi-purpose units to produce non-GMP intermediates at first and APIs in the long term in the best conditions of safety, quality and respect of the environment;
• SEQENS also completes its industrial HPAPI production facilities with a new unit on the Aramon site.
• SEQENS is also increasing the development capacity of its SEQENS’ Lab to accelerate the development of our customers’ molecules under the best conditions.

SEQENS invests in multi-purpose units using new technologies to imprive performance, safety, quality and respect for the environment.

These units, spread over our R&D center in Porcheville and 4 industrial sites, will enable us to produce anti-cancer drugs, antivirals, anesthetics and, more broadly, many small molecules on a contract basis or on our own.

• The Bourgoin Jallieu (38) pharmaceutical intermediates manufacturing site
• The Couterne pharmaceutical intermediates production site (61)

The projects consist of increasing the capacity of existing sites and investing in new technologies.

Seqens has set up an organization dedicated to the management of its projects to ensure that they are carried out on time and in accordance with our commitments and to limit the impact on our current projects and ongoing developments for our customers.

Ultimately, these projects will lead to the creation of 80 jobs, mainly in production.
