Methyl Salicylate Pharma

Pharmaceutical solutions

Introduction

Methyl salicylate was first extracted & isolated from the plant Gaultheria procumbens in the early 1840s. Methyl salicylate is the methyl ester of salicylic acid. Methyl salicylate is an external analgesic , available in over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, that temporarily relieve minor body aches, muscle and joint pain. By stimulating the superficial afferent nerves from the same spinal segment that supplies the painful muscles, Methyl salicylate will relieve the pain in the deeper muscles . A balm, cream, oil, ointment or lotion containing methyl salicylate will provide a cold effect followed by heat lasting sensation. Seqens is the only European producer of Methyl salicylate. It benefits from a full vertical integration on-site, providing security of supply. Thanks to the exceptional purity of its salicylic acid, Seqens' methyl salicylate is paraben-free and has an ultra-low phenol content.
