Chiral cyclobutanes are important structural features that are widely present in many biologically active natural and non-natural products. The threedimensional structure of cyclobutanes opens opportunities for applications in medicinal chemistry, and the introduction of this structural motif in smallmolecule drug candidates has been increasing in recent years.
