Seqens employees discover handball for the disabled
SEQENS employees have tried their hand at the Hand’Wheelchair, an initiative proposed by the UODL HandBall Tassin Brindas sports association
SEQENS is an official partner of CHALLENGE HANDI’AMO TOUR and sponsors this event for the second consecutive year. In this context and on the day before the tournament, about fifteen SEQENS employees were invited to discover and test wheelchair handball during short intense matches! Rules are very similar to classic handball, but with a few special features: the chair is considered as an integral part of the player and the height of the cages is reduced to 1m70.
Pierre Luzeau, SEQENS’ President, took advantage of this event to support his engagement to this competition and this sporting practice.
This second Rhodanian edition of the CHALLENGE HANDI’AMO TOUR took place on 16 and 17 February in the Alain Mimoun gymnasium in Brindas and the Genetières gymnasium in Tassin. Nearly 100 players, disabled (1/3 of the workforce) and able-bodied players competed against each other.
The objective of these gatherings is to help and develop the practice of Hand’Wheelchair in order to see this new sport at the 2024 Paralympic Games.
On Friday evening, the Education et Joie association, invited by the UODL HandBall, was also present. Created in 1969, Education et Joie is an association composed of five different institutions and services that support adults with mental disabilities and children with multiple disabilities.
