THE Product’s STORY
Used as a cleaning product and for the conservation of mummies, Sodium Bicarbonate was already used by the Egyptians 5, 000 years ago. At first they collected it from the evaporation of salty lakes:
- To dehydrate the body during mummification
- To bleach laundry
- For food preservation
- Mixed with clay, it was used as a soap to cleanse the body
- Mixed with lime, it was used to color the glasses
120 YEARS OF HISTORY
Seqens Mineral Specialties has been producing soda ash for the last 120 years in France. Today, it is also Europe’s second producer of sodium bicarbonate.
La Madeleine’s Plant Today
Sodium Bicarbonate is selected for its multiple applications. Seqens produces several grades of Sodium Bicarbonate including pharmaceutical grades manufactured on a dedicated unit named “Bianca”.
Mineral Specialties Singapore
Seqens is taking advantage of a new production unit launched in 2017 in Singapore producing high-quality sodium bicarbonate.
Based on the Bianca technology successfully developed by Seqens Mineral Specialties in France, this state-of the-art facility produce high-quality Sodium Bicarbonate grades to serve the growing Asian demand in pharmaceutical & healthcare, Dialysis, Personal Care, Food and other industrial applications.
Located in Jurong Island, the facility benefit from synergies with local partners in terms of infrastructure and services on the chemical platform.
