WHAT IS 2-ETHYLHEXYL ACETATE?

2-Ethylhexyl Acetate is a clear, polar solvent with low volatility, suitable as a carrier solvent for nitrocellulose production and many other natural and synthetic resins used in a wide range of industrial applications.

APPLICATIONS

2-Ethylhexyl acetate is a high boiling point solvent. Its hydrophobic, relatively polar nature makes it a good solvent for nitrocellulose and other resins commonly used in some lacquers, NC lacquer emulsions, screen inks and some enamels to improve flow and film formation.

It has a wide use as a leather industry solvent in dyeing and finishing functions aiding in film formation and flow.

Literature reports its use in fragrance formulations.

It has a coalescing action in emulsion paints where VOC isn’t a driving issue.

Its advantages with film formation and flow brings benefits in use in certain application methods such as brush application, spray and dip-coating methods.

Because of its compatibility with all common solvents, such as alcohols, ketones, glycols and glycol ethers, and aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons it is often used as an additive in cleaners and even in paint stripping systems.
